Historic Preservation - Commercial
Los Angeles, CA

The project was to convert an existing Victorian House, City of LA Cultural Monument #880, into a new restaurant to service the adjacent student population in the University Park area of Los Angeles. The exterior will be restored, and a later addition at the rear will be re-built to house the new kitchen, with roof deck outdoor seating above. An existing shed, and the garage will be restored and re-used. The project required City of Los Angeles Department of Historic Resources review, and a public hearing before the Cultural Heritage Commission. The design solution was commended by the City officials as a sterling example of adaptive reuse.
