The Forthmann Carriage House is a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument #103 located in Angelino Heights. It is a 1,000 sf Victoria Style carriage house built c. 1882, designed by Burgess J. Reeve.
In 2006, our team helped with relocating the structure from its original location at 629 West 18th Street to its current location 812 E. Edgeware Rd. The relocation was made possible by our client Barbara Behm, an independent developer who has restored many properties in Angelino Heights.
The existing structure had an character defining structural system that had to be demolished in order to save and relocate the building. Our scope included careful documentation of this system for posterity.
A design concept was worked out to bring the carriage house up to modern standards for the interior, but the work was not completed.
