About

Who we are

Tracy A. Stone Architect is a full service architectural firm emphasizing the California modern style. We believe in the creation of durable structures that harmoniously mix, texture, color, light, and materials. Most of our 30+ years experience features custom California homes, mid-century modern and historical restoration, modern commercial spaces, and custom interiors.

Tracy Stone, AIA, opened her own firm, Tracy A. Stone Architect, in 1991 after working with Ray and Finn Kappe as a project architect for five years. Tracy has been licensed in the State of California since 1989, and spent 10 years as a member of the Angelino Heights Historic Preservation Overlay Zone board. She is currently a LEED Accredited Professional and a member of the US Green Building Council. Tracy has taught at Woodbury University, Art Center College of Design, and USC.

Born as a byproduct of the biennial Frogtown Artwalk, the TAS Gallery operates out of the office of Tracy A. Stone Architect, exhibiting work that is often allied with the Los Angeles River.

Hours: The gallery opens for the Frogtown Artwalk, and in the month following. Hours at these times are: Monday – Friday 9am-6pm, Saturday by appointment only.

The artwalk is organized by the Elysian Valley Arts Collective, a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization.

Frogtown Artwalk

In 2003, Tracy A. Stone Architect moved into our current office located in Elysian Valley. It took us a few years to settle in but when we did, we decided an “Office Warming Party” was in order. And while we knew we could show off our work, we thought we asked a friend how to make the party more entertaining for those outside the field of architecture.

Her response? “Nobody wants to come to an architect’s office — that’s boring!”

So, with a little charm and charisma, we convinced a couple of local artists that it would be fun to host a small artwalk. That first year, 2006, we had 10 artists/spaces participate in what amounted to a glorified Office Party/Block Party.
In 2018, the Frogtown Artwork included more than 50 artists, 40 venues, 3 official stages with bands, a literary lounge, a dance exhibit and an interactive light installation stretching a half-mile along the river.
