Steep grading encouraged a slim linear design with expansive views flanking two sides of the lot, while lush greenery continues up the hillside behind. “Living” walls surround the guest suites and act as natural insulation and a passive air filtering system, bounding a series of outdoor gathering spaces on the east while the sleek and luxurious pool floats on the west. Meanwhile, the rest of the house opens to the north minimizing the southern exposure heat gain without compensating any views to the surrounding hills. A mostly solid south wall shades the living spaces from the harsh afternoon sun. Use of glass along the north and west maximize views and allow indirect daylight to graciously spill into the house.
